Did you move to the United States as an adult and would like to improve your pronunciation, grammar, or writing skills? Do you need help with you college writing course? Is your child struggling in school because English is not his first language?
Studies show that children who speak more than one language are more focused, open-minded, and sensitive than their peers.
How Can Experienced English Tutor Help?
Private ESL tutoring is the most effective way to improve your English skills. In working with ESL (English as a Second Language) students, I first identify their unique challenges. I then strive to make English accessible so that my students no longer feel like foreigners. While studying with me, students start to feel comfortable and confident when speaking, reading, and writing in English. Here are the topics I cover with my ESL students:
- Listening & Speaking
- Reading Comprehension
- Vocabulary & Idioms
- ESL Grammar
- Writing: structure, development of ideas, sentence clarity
Background and Experience
I moved to the US from the former Soviet Union as a 10-year-old girl, and I understand the challenges immigrants face in this country. Yes, I still speak Russian and welcome Russian students who would like a teacher who speaks their language. However, I have worked with international students from all over that world. This experience taught me that having a teacher who only speaks English is more effective as it allows for authentic listening and speaking practice. Consequently, I welcome students from different backgrounds.
